today has been wonderful. why is that you ask? because i didn't have to go to chem lab. yup. lab was cancelled today. leaving a 3 1/2 hour window of freedom in my afternoon. time to chill. time to walk my friend to her doctor's appointment. time to go get the most amazing mango smoothie of my life. (no joke it's really good)
relaxation is kind of a weird concept at college. because, honestly, we relax all the time. we probably spend most of our time doing that. hanging out, watching tv or youtube, or just plain sitting down talking. and yet it's in small, but frequent, quantities. so it feels weird to have just a big block of time to chill.
i have had plenty of time to relax today, but now i must go do homework...

on staying up late
i have been doing an awful lot more not sleeping than i ever did before college. of course, i knew this was to be expected but i didn't really know how it would hit me. and hit me it did. sometimes it was a love tap. other times it was a flat out punch in the face.
my normal weeknight bedtime is around 12:30. this comes partially from bad time management, but it's also partially not my fault. my suite has 4 girls. all of whom prefer to shower at night. so unless it's my turn to go first, i can expect a 20-45 minute wait for the shower. that pushes my bedtime back significantly. also, floor hours (the curfew to be in another dorm) end at midnight on weeknights. our friends we hang out with on a regular basis live in the other building, so often we're over there right up til curfew. so on a bad night it can be as late as 1 am.
this weekend was a unique situation because i did not sleep at all on friday night. this was not by choice and i was not pulling an all-nighter (geez it's only the 5th week of school!). one of my roommates was in the ER for stomach pain, so we stayed with her all night. and all morning. 12 hours total. and they didn't even fix what was wrong. so my sleep schedule was completely reversed because i went home and slept from 10:30 am to 5 pm. so of course then we were up til midnight again. but then i slept til 11:30. so my sleep schedule has been a little wonky lately.
my roommates and i have made a pact to be back in our room by 11:30 at the latest so that at least most of us can shower and be in bed before midnight. i'm sure our friends in the other building will appreciate this pushed up schedule as well. they need the sleep just as much as we do.
of course, i cope with my strange sleep schedule with copious amounts of caffeine at various times of day. normally in the morning though. it's tough to make it through 8 am chemistry without a little help... yesterday i had a starbucks doubleshot (the kind in the can) and a starbucks mocha frappe when we went to target. and this was all after 2 pm. so i was pretty energetic today...

TGIF
so i'm currently procrastinating. don't worry, not from anything important. i only have to wash practically every dish i own...
it's a little odd for me to have this in between time. we ate lunch earlier than normal today. weekends are a funny thing at college. on fridays, you can hear the same conversation everywhere you go: are you going home this weekend? at my college, many people do. it feels pretty dead around here. i'm excited for this weekend because for the first time, all my roommates are staying the weekend :)
everyone is asleep on saturdays. i don't get up until 11 and i only get up that early because i have to work at 1. most of the time my roomies are still asleep when i leave for work. saturday evening is when things start to pick up. shopping and movie nights and hanging out til 2 am (that's our dorm curfew). last weekend we watched 3 movies in one night, two of which were horror movies.
sunday is homework time. we get up relatively early for church. unfortunately for me, the library doesn't open until 3. i have a hard time studying in my room because my desk is cluttered. i work at 3 though, so i can buckle down and get it done right after.
then it all starts over: sleepclasseatclassworkhomeworkchillsleep
finally getting into the groove of things, learning what works and what doesn't.
oh, before i go: a nerdfighter vlog is in the planning stages. for real this time :)

um what day is it again...?
so i've been at college long enough to lose track of how many weeks i've been here. i know it's not that long. something like 3 or 4 weeks i think. i can hardly keep track of what day it is. probably from sleep deprivation. although i did sleep for a whole 10 hours last night. that's why i love saturdays :)
took my first actual tests in college. chemistry and spanish. chemistry didn't go as well as i could've hoped. spanish wasn't too terrible. having a college textbook last year helped i think... although i had a college book for chemistry too. must have been my spanish study group then :)
weekends are boring here. two of my roommates left for the weekend and the other was gone all day. that worked out well though, because we planned a surprise for her. her boyfriend came to visit, but she didn't know. pretty much everyone we know was in on it except her. it was pretty epic :)
i've noticed something funny. i acclimated to living with a group pretty quickly. so much so that to have only 2 people living here (even if only for a day or two) feels weird and empty. somehow i'm already used to being near other people, even if i don't know them or aren't talking to them or anything. i guess i've always kind of preferred to be around other people, but now that that's the norm, i miss it even more when it's gone.
so yeah. that's college right now...

first real weekend at college...
so at this point i'm taking a study break from having to buckle down and do actual homework. anywho, i'm on my first real break from school while still being at school. it's been a little odd having one of my roommates gone for 4 days with the soccer team. fun times though.
my school had a big organized trip to a brewers game on friday. except they ran out of tickets so i didn't get to go... instead, one of the emilys, my friend joel, and i stayed in and had a movie night. first time in awhile i watched scary movies. we watched paranormal activity (joel and i hadn't seen it before) slow beginning (and middle) but the end was scary. then someone had the bright idea that we should watch haunting in conneticut. surprisingly, i didn't have that hard of a time falling asleep. probably because we were up past 2 a.m.
last night they held an outdoor movie night. the movie was pirates 4 (yay!!) it was fun even though we were freezing and the ground out there is pretty uncomfortable. after that we were just hanging out in our hall. until pretty late. we decided to dye emily's hair. at 12:30 am. we'd all had some caffeine so hilarity ensued.
overall a good couple of nights. i believe another movie night is in the works for this evening since half the people we know who have been gone are coming back :D

plum pudding theory
today in chemistry we talked about the plum pudding theory about atoms. they used to think everything in an atom was all jumbled together instead of one bit in the center and mostly empty space around it. that's kind of my life right now. everything jumbled together and running into each other and you can't really tell where one thing starts and another begins but it's all good :)
so basically, right now, life = insanity. in a good way :) classes are good but i'm always busy. i just gave a speech about myself in communications today. i think it went well :) my fingers are hurting as i type this because i bought a ukulele!!!!! it's purple and beautiful. i'll post some pictures soon i think. i love it. i set my spanish vocabulary to chords this morning so i could study and practice chord changes at the same time. never had so much fun studying spanish in my life! i'll probably whine about my fingers until they're callused but it's gonna be totally worth it.
yeah so speaking of spanish, i'm really liking it here. and boy do i appreciate my grammar nazi teachers in high school! (no really, one of them calls herself the grammar nazi) and their obsession with no english during class. alot of my classmates aren't used to having class in spanish so it's a huge advantage for me.
i went home for labor day because i had to work at the park. three days of vacuuming cobwebs off the walls and ceilings of the barns was not very fun. at least i'll get paid :) while i was home i also got my birthay present from my mom. iphone!!!!! i LOVE it!! :) (psst! thanks again mom :)
so yesterday was my 19th birthday :D like a million people said happy birthday to me. my uke came in the mail, my roomies bought me a cake and we had a bunch of people over to eat it. i had almost no immediately important homework to do, which was nice so i could practice my ukulele (that's kind of alot to type so from here on out i'm just going to use uke) i'm pretty much learning uke from the internet. chords, strum patterns, songs, etc. it's awesome :)
i definitely don't get as much sleep at college as i did in high school but a steady stream of caffeine takes care of that for me ;) when i first arrived, i was a little worried about the smallness of my room/bathroom but as it turns out, the size has really brought my roommate and suitemates and i together. they've certainly become my family away from home.
i think some of the shiny newness of college has worn off, but i still like it. i feel like this is where i'm supposed to be :)

1 down, 179 to go...
that's right! i have completed my first school day as a college freshman. it wasn't too terribly hard. i had 8 am chemistry (which i also have tomorrow, so i should go to bed soon. more on that later) i liked the teacher but my athlete friends did not, as he picks on athletes for missing class.
i found a sophomore friend and we went to chapel together :) a really cool praise band is coming tomorrow, so i'm looking forward to it :D i went to my first ever communications class. turns out i have to give speeches and stuff :/ it was really weird though because i had like an hour and a half in between. not exactly what i'm used to. it was a good weird though.
i had lunch with some girls on our floor. the food here is surprisingly delicious :) after that it was off to a once a week class on what it means to be a college student, the value of an education, and how best to handle our new independence. suffice it to say, i'm glad it's only one day a week... then i had spanish!! that's the only time of the day that i go straight from one class to another. spanish was lovely because that doesn't change. it gets more difficult, but it's still the same language. that was the end of the day (well the school day).
my suitemate and i made a pick n save run so that i could get a lab book. (pick n save is the only reasonably sized store within walking distance). had supper, did some printing in the library and hung out in my friends' dorms. (i didn't do much studying today because i have all afternoon off tomorrow and nothing due til wednesday)
i did make a mistake today... i had a scheduled skype date with a good friend of mine, and i stood her up on accident :( i was so excited to go to the improv comedy show tonight that i totally spaced. time kind of gets away from me here. no excuse, i know, but that's what happened. also that's why i'm up so late. i just realized i missed our skype date when we got home 20 minutes ago. so that's my day!! i have to get some sleep so i'm not a zombie in chem tomorrow :)

college: day one
so i don't know if i officially count as a college kid yet, as i am still in the orientation stage and classes have not started, but i'm moved in so i think that should count for something. i sit and type this from my desk in my dorm room. by some miracle, i am completely unpacked, despite having all sorts of events and things to do.
last night we did "speed friending". two lines of chairs. they give us a question and we both have to say our name and answer it. it was fun :) i met a lot of nice people. then we got on buses and they took us to get free ice cream! well, technically i think it's "custard". whatever they call it, it was amazing!!
as i sit and type this i am drinking coffee from a starbucks mug that was part of my birthday present from my best friend megan :)
today will probably be pretty busy and loads of fun :)

did you guys know about this??
so i have made a wonderful discovery that i feel like i should have discovered a while back. i have discovered how much fun makeup is! you're probably thinking seriously?? you're almost nineteen and you don't wear makeup? well, that's not strictly true. i've been wearing brown eye shadow, mascara, and brown eyeliner since i was like 15. but i did the same thing every day. it took like 2 minutes, it was easy, simple, and cheap. but there's this whole other world of eye shadow and liquid liner and actual brushes!! never before have i applied eye shadow with anything but my fingers. now i own like 3 separate brushes just for my eyes. that's not even counting the concealer brush, two blush brushes, and two powder brushes. i didn't buy those last four, just kind of accumulated them from my sister and my mom. that's the nice thing about having a family that is mostly women: hand-me-downs :) i bought new eye shadow today for the first time in probably over a year. it wasn't brown or blue and there's more than one color in it! even though i'm making all these wonderful new discoveries, i know there's still quite a bit i don't know/ don't have. like liquid liner, for instance...
i always used to feel like makeup was only for girls who thought they weren't pretty. girls who wanted to cover their faces. turns out it's all in how you wear it. i don't wear makeup for boys or my friends. i wear it for myself. i wear it because it brings out my natural beauty. i wear it because it's downright fun to put on! (although time consuming...i'll be getting up earlier this school year :)
so many of these discoveries (and purchases...) are due to my finding out about a youtube channel of makeup tutorials called MichellePhan. she's wonderful! :)

jumble of updates
hello hello!! i know i suck at blogging. moving on...
this week is officially my last week of summer! i am done working for the summer (except i have to go back and work on labor day weekend) and i am spending my remaining almost-a-week packing and preparing for college. this is going to be quite an adventure. i need to make sure i don't forget anything. it's strange though, because i never really think about all the little stuff that i use every day that i will now need to bring with me.
august has been a busy month, as you may have gathered. my dad's side of the family had a big reunion camping weekend as they do every year. we went up for the day and ate stew and hung out with all our relatives that are practically strangers. it was a good time though.
i've been working busily, 8 hours a day. the park hosted the annual parks department picnic last thursday. there was lots of food and a raffle :) my mom won a lovely shirt for me that says "county parks department vegetation growth manipulation team (we mow!)" on the back :D
i would just like to say i am very jealous of everyone who went to vidcon. i would love to go next year, or maybe the year after. i would love it even more if vidcon were held in chicago. that way i could drive down, rather than buy a plane ticket (although with my van's gas consumption, the cost is probably equal).
i have preordered john green's 'the fault in our stars'. i am hoping and praying that i receive a hanklerfished book :) that would be wonderful! with my chances at .5 percent, i have a better chance of getting a hanklerfish than winning the lottery...
maybe it's just me but it seems like everyone i know at my college is moving in early. it would be weird to move in early, but it feels like everyone is already there without me. i'm sure i'll get my fill of college life in the next four years, i'm just impatient for it to start already. i have my schedule all set up and have received most of my books in the mail. i'm a nerd, so i already started flipping through them...
life continues to move at the speed of light, it feels like sometimes. i'll be turning 19 in a couple weeks already. that is the oldest i have ever been! ;) i'll try to be a better blogger though :)

college students = homeless people??
so i'm not actually going to blog here today. (don't worry, i'll still blog, just not today) instead of writing my blog, i vlogged it! i needed something interesting to say in my test video to play with my new camera. so i just used what i would've blogged today. so here's the link! enjoy!

shopping spree!!!
it wasn't really a spree... it was all things i needed. or, will need, rather. that's right, folks, i went college shopping! i didn't get everything i need. probably half-ish. i sure spent a boatload of money though :P it was worth it.
among the things i bought today was a wireless mouse! i'm still getting used to using it and not the touch pad. but let me just say, i LOVE it! my life is now easier :) i also bought a tape dispenser that looks like a little red high heel shoe.
some things made me feel weird to buy. like bowls. and spoons. and forks. that's like officially saying: ok you're an adult now. you have your own dishes. you're leaving home. good luck and bon appetit!
maybe dishes don't say that much, but it sure feels like it. things like binders, notebooks, highlighters, etc i've bought before. that was normal. but to buy a lamp and a pillow and dishes felt a little odd.
i'll also be ordering my text books today. lucky for me, some of them are only like $4. yay for the magic of amazon! it still feels a little surreal that i'll be moving into college in less than a month. i'm crazy excited about it! i have my class schedule and at orientation i'll do an interview for a campus job :)
i found out recently that i have to read a book! the entire freshman class has to read it. it's called the immortal life of henrietta lacks. it's about this woman's cancer cells that have been used to make major medical advancements. it's pretty long, but i don't have to have it read until like october.
so yeah, that's life lately...

my life: as boring as ever
i did some interesting things today. i also did some very boring things. i avoided, but eventually got around to some important things. and i did something i can still smell.
let's start off with the smell: i dyed my hair today. i've been dying it a dark red/maroonish color for quite some time now. but my friend and i have recently decided to put purple streaks in our hair. i thought that would look better with brown. i tried to dye it to my natural hair color, but i don't think it's the right one. oh well. brown is brown and it will grow out much less noticeably than brown and the strange orange that my previous color was.
i went to work for a grand total of one hour today. that was because it was raining. of course, the one day i really want to go to work, it pours. i really wanted to go to work today because we were going to cook chicken at lunch today :) ah well, maybe we'll do it tomorrow.
i applied for student loans today. holy cow that is alot of money. like, alot alot of money. hopefully i make alot of money when i'm a nurse someday ;) that was the thing that i've been avoiding. and the boring thing. did you know that when you apply for a student loan, you have to do this little like half hour "class" thing where you have to read, then take a little quiz. i very nearly fell asleep. that's how boring it was.
the interesting thing i did today was i made a video. i made it with my webcam because my camera is being shipped. it was total and complete rubbish. i'm going to make a different one soon. hopefully my annunciation will be better... i'm just making this so that i can practice vlogging and uploading and such before my group vlog starts. and it is apparent that i desperately need all the help i can get...

does this count as a milestone?
today i took my car in for repair for the first time. i felt like a grown up. i was informed by a coworker yesterday that i had a flat tire. (that was really good because it was on the passenger side and i never, like ever, see that tire) so i went straight to my grampa (he lives right by the park and he's a mechanic :) he filled it with air and said it probably had a nail in it. he also said don't be too alarmed, go to such and such a car place because they do $.99 flat tire repair. so i wasn't panicking or anything. so i went there this morning and they said it was leaking between the rim and the tire itself. so it ended up costing me like $20. but that's waaay better than, oh yeah by the way you need new tires. i'm lucky i got away with just a leak. my dear minivan is nearly as old as i am...
whenever i have an eventful morning, i still think of that line from tangled: "all the things we've seen, and it's only 8 in the morning!" :)
i received some exciting news this week. we're getting llamas at the farm!!! llamas!!! apparently they're really tall... i'm excited :D
i also received some not so exciting mail this week: my bill for college. for one semester. the amount i need in loans (which i have to get before aug 1. how bout a little more notice??) is roughly equivalent to tuition for a year at my private high school. basically, a lot. ah the adventures of adulthood.
i've been feeling like this more and more lately. like all of a sudden i'm a grown up and i'm doing grown up things. it feels weird, but in a good way. kind of like an explorer in uncharted waters. sometimes i feel like i don't know what i'm doing. usually i just wing it and it works out fine. other times i talk to people who've sailed these "uncharted" waters before, like my parents or my friends. it's nice to have those resources. and if all else fails, i google it :)

thoughts from the farm
ever have those days when you just kind of feel crappy for no reason? or just like the littlest things bother you more than normal? that's the kind of day i'm having. although treading water in the sea of PMS isn't really helping either :P
anyways, that's not really what i wanted to talk about today. this is...
i never would have guessed that farm animals have so much personality! the classic example of a "dumb" animal is a donkey, yet ours has the most personality of any animal i've ever seen. her name is Freida. she loves her routine. you could set your watch by the sound of her hee hawing to be let in at 4:32 (which can be heard clearly throughout the park). when it rains or is too hot and i have to bring her in early several days in a row, she is very reluctant to go out in the mornings. some days she just flat out refuses. she's so smart we have to put a little clip in the latch of her gate because she can get it open otherwise. when we feed her oats, she picks up the bowl and dumps them out. i have no idea why.
we have two calves. they don't have names so we call them the lineback and the holstein. the lineback is the whiner. she doesn't even really moo that often, it's usually more of a mmrrrawww (if that makes sense...) but she makes the most noise. about an hour and a half before feeding time she starts up. she's stubborn about her laziness too. the holstein is much more energetic. when i bring out hay in the morning she bucks and runs around while i walk towards her. she's much louder than the lineback, but she's a little older too.
the goats are impatient. more than a few times, i have been stabbed in my backside by a goat horn on my way from the barn to the tree where we put their hay because they just can't wait that long. i stopped even walking out there, now i just throw it as far as i can. they're very friendly though. whenever i come to the gate they come and put their feet up so their faces are level with mine. if i stand still they nibble at my glasses and my hat or even my fingers if i let them. they don't get along with the sheep though. the goats and sheep both have gotten their heads stuck in the fence between them, trying to butt each other. the sheep don't really have horns, but they're feisty anyway. not very bright though. when it rains, they lose their scent trail to their pen, so i have to chase them all the way around the goat pen several times to get them to go to the gate. one of them will stand still for a considerable amount of time for me to brush her, but the other runs away and won't have it. if i chase her around the small pen in the barn long enough she'll surrender though.
the piglets are very funny. they seem a little disoriented, having lost one of their number (if i didn't mention this before, one of the piglets we had got sick and died). some of the others are showing the same symptoms as that one so i'm starting to worry. if i stand still they'll come over and scratch their little backs on my legs. they all curl up together to sleep.
who knew?

whine whine whine
ok, i'm putting my foot down. enough already with this stupid weather!! it is very very difficult to do my job when it is 97 degrees out! 97!!!!! that's not even taking into account the heat index which is 109. in addition to that, it keeps raining in the middle of the night so the grass is wet and it's so humid out there's fog in the morning. i know i'm picky. too cold in the winter, too hot in the summer. but seriously. this is getting ridiculous.
i did manage to get a morning of work in yesterday. during which i hit my shin on part of the mower. so now my leg is swollen and i have a bruise for like 3 inches surrounding where i hit it. it hurts. my family says i'm a wuss but i don't know if that's really fair. it's not like i'm making a big deal about something that doesn't hurt. every step i take hurts. that's super annoying. it doesn't hurt so bad i can't walk or anything. just bad enough that i don't want to.
so, um, i didn't actually have anything significant to say. just wanted to complain. sorry!

it's official: i'm a bad blogger
yup. that's right. it's not like you hadn't noticed though. anyway, moving on...
well the first thing i have to say is that i have roughly 1.3 million mosquito bites. this is by no means the most important thing happening in my life but it sure is at the front of my mind. ah, well, such is summer in wisconsin.
i know that there are interesting things to say about my life, but i can't really think of any right now.
oh! i've got one! tomorrow i'm going to visit my bestest friend megan at her work!! she works at like a kiddie carnival sort of thing so some friends and i are going to go ride the rides and bother her :) then we're going to go swimming at the park where i work because it is going to be like 94 degrees out tomorrow. but it's going to be a blast! it's always nice to hang out with my friends versus my coworkers because my friends actually know me really well and like me and stuff.
the possible vlog plans continue...hopefully i'm better at that than at this sort of blogging. i'll actually be talking to real people so i think then it'll be easier to think of things to say. don't worry, this blog won't go away! it will most likely be less frequent, but it will live on :)

what am i gonna do with all this food??
so americans have this funny thing we do where when someone graduates from something (especially high school), they throw a big party. we did that yesterday!!!
we had a gigantic taco bar with enough food to feed a small army. and that's just the food that was left after a nearly 10 hour party. we had more than that before. a bunch of my friends came and brought me wonderful presents. one of them was a really cute piggy bank with a graduation hat that said college fund :) another was a hand sewn purse and a three tiered pack of little notepads (hand sewn!!! did you see that??? i said hand sewn!!(well probably sewn by machine, but sewn by my friend :) another pretty impressive gift was a (also handmade) metal thingie shaped like a pig. which is pretty impressive because pigs don't have a very good silhouette but i knew it was a pig right away. so that was cool :)
plus i received one of the biggest perks of graduating: lots of money :) the people that we know obviously love me very much and they were generous. so if any of you are reading this: THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
so now life returns to normal. well normalish. now i get to start shopping for college. call me a nerd if you will, but i'm excited to buy highlighters and fancy pens and shop for dorm things. we went to walmart and i saw they had the big seasonal school supplies out. it made me happy :)
so there's some planning in the works for a collaborative vlog. i won't say too much because it's not for sure but if there are developments, i'll let you know :)

what a glamorous life i lead
as i type this, i'm simultaneously scratching at least 15 mosquito bites. i guess that's what happens when you work outside. and when it rains for a week straight.
sorry i haven't been updating as often. i do have at least a semi-legit excuse. (hey spellcheck didn't correct my use of the word legit :) as you probably know if you've been reading, i have family in town. this is amazing and awesome and fun filled. but it also means that i have less time to just sit down and take a minute. this is also due in part to the fact that we are getting ready to host a gigantic party tomorrow and there are still roughly 1.5 million things that need to get done. but we'll get them done and it will be awesome :)
remember when i said we had new piglets at work? probably not since it was like 2 weeks ago. (unless you just scrolled down to look :). anyway that one piglet is still sick :( she won't eat, she still has a fever, and she's losing alot of weight. the vet won't volunteer his time to come all the way out to the farm for one little piglet (which i think is stupid :P ) every day i go in there and every day (so far) i'm just thankful she's still alive. i wish there was something i could do...

a day of independence
that's right. happy birthday america! you don't look a day over bicentennial! this is a time for cookouts and fireworks going off all over the neighborhood. it is also upwards of 80 degrees, which is as it should be in the summer!
we're having a nice little family reunion at my house all week :) my grandparents drove aaaalllllll the way from south carolina to come see all of us and they're staying with my family all week. this is awesome :D they have this wonderful stuff in south carolina that they don't have here in wisconsin. it's called okra. it's this funny little vegetable that tastes delicious when deep fried. does it still count as a vegetable if it's deep fried? probably not but it's my favorite vegetable :) so we fried up a bunch of that last night along with squash and green tomatoes.
tonight we're having a cookout at my brother's house (he has his own house now!! he bought it :) so that should be fun.
i'm still planning all this college stuff and i have come to a conclusion: simply preparing for college is going to cost me a small fortune! i certainly hope it doesn't cost this much every year. most things i won't have to keep buying because once i have them i have them and they'll last all 4 years (hopefully). other things won't though. i guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it though.

WOOOOOO!!!!
it came!! at long last, i found out who my roommate is!! her name is melissa :D i think this year is going to be pretty freakin awesome! facebook has been overrun with everyone posting about their roommates and what residence hall they're in. it's all very exciting :)
today was an excellent day for mail! not only did i get my roommate assignment, i also got the laptop skin that i have been patiently waiting for. it has multicolored owls on it and it's soooo cute :)
today was so hot that everyone was sent home at noon. that is pretty hot. it was 80 when i left the house at 8 am. i had some interesting experiences at work yesterday though. first of all, it is apparent that many of the guys who go to my high school disc golf at the park. this means there's a bunch of shirtless guys that i know all over the place. it's weird.
i was mowing at one of the more secluded areas of the park. shortly after i began mowing, i noticed a man, probably in his 50s, sitting on the grass, just kind of looking around. however, the longer i mowed, the more it became apparent that he was looking at me. eventually he moved to his car where he sat with the door open watching me. when we mow we have to move the picnic tables so that we can mow the grass under them. the first time i came to a picnic table i mowed around it, moved it and mowed under it. standard procedure. the next time i came to a picnic table, i mowed around it but continued mowing, planning to come back when i had mowed that whole section. except when i came back to move it, it had already been moved! as if that wasn't creepy enough, he proceeded to lay on top of the table and watch me mow. there was one more picnic table which he also moved while i wasn't looking. all told, he sat and watched me for 2 hours!! now i'm all paranoid about silver minivans :P
*shudder* i don't want to talk about that creepyness anymore :P
my grandparents are currently en route to my house! they should be here by tomorrow morning :D
i have lost count of how many times i have done my happy dance today...

news news news
finally there is news about roommates!! well, i don't actually have the news yet. the news is that the news is coming. that's an awful lot of news. the information was put in the mail today, so hopefully it will come tomorrow or saturday. that would be awesome because (you may have heard about this) monday is the 4th of july. no mail. (also no work :)
the reason that no work on the fourth of july (or the day after :) is good is that my grandparents are coming!! they live in south carolina. that is very far away from wisconsin. roughly sixteen hours by car. i know this because my family has driven it straight through more than once. they should arrive anytime this weekend. i'm very excited to see them :D
more exciting work news! (again with the news...) we now have two new goats. very LARGE goats! when they stand on their hind legs, they're taller than me. i didn't know a goat could get that big. none the less, they are. they have big curved horns too. also, one of the little piglets we got the other day is sick :( she is very warm and sleeps all day. she even threw up :( i hope she gets better very soon. its hard to watch her be sick because there's nothing i can do. good thing i'm going to be a nurse because then when i'm around sick people, i will be able to help them :)
so one very exciting thing i'm looking forward to in college is the fact that i'm actually studying things i want to study. in the past, we just took the classes that were required or that we were told to take. (i know there's still required classes in college but they're all centered around what i want to learn) that's the cool thing. i chose to learn about these things. i want to. i love chemistry and biology and cool stuff like that :) i'm taking chemistry this first semester. i'm pretty jazzed about this :)

the suspense is killing me!!
what suspense, you ask? well, i'll tell you. i am anxiously awaiting my roommate assignment. i've never lived with anyone outside of my family, so i'm a little nervous. i mean, i'm not that difficult to live with. i hope. the only thing is i'm not a very tidy person. i like my piles. they grow and shrink over time but i always know what is in them. that's a nice thing about having a really good memory. i see something somewhere. then when i go to look for it, even weeks or months later, i have a vague feeling of where it is. i go and look, and there it sits. it's easy for me to keep track of and easy to maintain. mostly because it requires roughly zero maintenance.
however, some people find this irritating. some people thing that i am messy and don't like the way it looks. i really hope that my roommate doesn't feel this way. or at least doesn't feel the need to try to "fix" my system or help me "organize".
i have received a bit of news though! according to my college's facebook page, my roommate info should be in my mailbox on july 5th or 6th. this means i have at least another week. sad face. :(
something interesting happened at work today!! we got new piglets! we had four pigs who were mostly black with pink stripes across their shoulders. but the new ones are completely white. not even pink. it's a little strange but they're so cute, it makes up for it :) one of them seems to constantly be in the middle of a panic attack. poor thing was laying down and kind of hiccupping. it was almost like little piggie hyperventilating. hopefully she's better tomorrow :)
i hear we'll be keeping the same calves all summer rather than sending them back to their farm in the middle of the summer. this means that they will get rather large. probably almost as large as regular cows. this is a little scary for me. cows are big. the reason for this is that the feed for calves is way cheaper than the milk formula. so we're going to give it a try. they're growing like weeds so i guess i'll see what happens.
so i would just like to quickly say, if you are a returning reader i would really love it if you would click the follow button :)
however, some people find this irritating. some people thing that i am messy and don't like the way it looks. i really hope that my roommate doesn't feel this way. or at least doesn't feel the need to try to "fix" my system or help me "organize".

thoughts on packing
so i am in the process of composing a list of things to bring to college. it's a little more difficult than your average move. when one's family moves to another house, one simply brings everything that they own. there is nothing left behind. however, when packing for college there are plenty of things i will not need. there are also a rather large number of things that i will want/need that never even occurred to me. like nail polish. i love to paint my nails. it is one of those little things that just kind of makes me happy. but i didn't even think about putting it on the list. things like a garbage can and bringing my own coffee cups never even occurred to me. thankfully, my sister is about to be a junior in college, so she thought of all the things i hadn't. she thought of even more because her college is 7 hours away. she can't just jaunt back for a day to have lunch and pick up something she forgot.
it's a little strange to think about all the things i use in a day without even thinking about them. a lamp. kleenex. a coffeemaker. all things that i use frequently. also all things that i will now have to provide for myself. they seem so insignificant when i have them, but if i didn't, i'm sure they would be significant indeed.
another funny thing about packing for college is trying to figure out exactly how i'm going to get everything on my list (which is truly massive) actually to my dorm room. i don't have much in the way of luggage so i think i'll need to go shopping for totes or something of that nature.
oh yeah, so i'm typing this on my new laptop that my lovely mother bought for me for college :D
i'm enjoying it immensely! now i can watch vlogbrothers videos from the comfort of the couch instead of the hard wooden chair that sits at the computer desk :) the reason this is a significant change for me is that since i have discovered vlogbrothers (a week or two ago) i have decided to go back and watch the archives. for a year they made videos every single weekday. that's alot of videos. that's not even including the other 3 years of videos. i'm enjoying it very much though :)

a fatherly day
ooh for the first time i am blogging from somewhere other than my home computer! no i didn't get a laptop yet. although i am using a laptop :) i happen to be at my grandparent's house making cookies for my dad. why you ask? well, because it's fathers day of course! and what a father's day it has been! it's a sunday, so we went to church. but we didn't go to church where we normally go. we drove to milwaukee to visit a church that i can go to while i'm in college. i really really enjoyed it :) then we went to this crazy resturaunt called organ pipers pizza. we ate a rather delicious hand made pizza while listening to an amazingly complex pipe organ. he played disney music. it was pretty cool :)
according to my college's facebook page, they're having the "roommate meeting" on wednesday. that means i should have my roommate information by friday! i'm very excited about this :D
note to my future roommate if she is reading this: i'm really excited to meet you! hopefully we can be friends, or at least put up with each other ;) and i hope you don't hate purple because it's my favorite color :)
anywho, the dorms there are really nice so i'll have 1-2 roommates and 2-3 suitemates whom i will share a bathroom with. i plan to spend the first couple of weeks of college figuring out who on my floor (or in my building) watch glee. i'm trying to find a purple coffeemaker. i could have sworn i saw one somewhere online last fall, but now it is nowhere to be found. is there some sort of unwritten rule that coffeemakers can only be made in silver, black, white, and red? if you see one anywhere, would you mind commenting with the link? i would majorly appreciate it! :)
oh yeah! so the cookie making! well i thought for fathers day i should give him the one thing i'm really good at: baked goods :) so my sister and i are making hot chocolate cookies. this was actually made quite difficult because my grandparents do not have any form of electric mixer. turns out mixing by hand takes alot longer...

wait, what month is it?
so i was pretty thoroughly convinced that it was summer. it's june, it was like 90 degrees outside for a bit there, and i'm not in school. i'm beginning to have my doubts though, as the high for today is 63. ah wisconsin :(
i had a pretty good week at work but i'm glad it's the weekend. i actually saw some of my friends this week too! we met up for laser tag (which due to the small number of people (5) it was kind of lame) then we went to a cafe and played an epic game of scrabble. after that we still didn't want to go home even though it was already like 8:30 so we went to a park and played on the playground. while we were there some guy pulled up to the parking lot, got out of his car, and just stood there maybe 100 yds away, watching us. it was very creepy. there was a merry go round though :D those are my favorite! i now have like 5 mosquito bites on my toes but it was worth it :)
i don't believe i mentioned this at all but i went to see pirates of the caribbean 4 a couple weeks ago :) this is a significant event for me because i LOVE pirates of the caribbean :D i own the first three (and fully plan on buying the fourth). something that happened in the movie was particularly funny for my sister (who i went to see it with) and i. if you've seen the movie you know there's a mermaid named serena (if you haven't no big deal it's not really a spoiler or anything). what's really hilarious is my sister's name is serena. the first time they say her name in the movie it's all dramatic and stuff but as soon as he said it we just busted up laughing. but then we couldn't stop giggling because the mermaid even looks a bit like my sister. the people behind us were like shut up it wasn't that funny. but it was to us :)
tonight i am going to my first timber rattler game in 15 years. (baseball if you don't know who they are) my lovely friend hannah's family had an extra ticket :) the last time i went was when my brother won some contest so he got to help announce a game. he was in 5th grade so i was 3 at the time. the only thing i remember really clearly is nearly getting run over by someone dressed in this huge piggly wiggly pig costume. this is ironic because i love pigs and i collect them so my parents were all like look! look at the pig! but i was standing on the stairs and he was walking backwards and nearly knocked me down. this is not the reason i haven't been back in so long, just a coincidence.
so i have discovered something awesome. i know it doesn't really count as discovery if other people already knew about it. and it is possible that i'm the last person to find out about this because it seems like everyone i know already knew. so anyway, the awesomeness i discovered is called charlieissocoollike. he is hilarious (and british :) and i am enjoying his videos very much so you should check it out :)
wow this is getting rather long. ok one more thing. several of my friends have been urging me to watch something called Dr. Horrible's sing along blog. so i finally did. if you haven't seen it but are planning to, you should stop right here. i mean it because i'm about to talk about how it ends. ok here goes: worst ending ever! it was like they ran out of time to write it so they were like let's just kill her off and be done with this. merg :P however i did hear there's a sequel coming so that should be interesting :)

like bumper cars, but not...
so i haven't posted in a bit because i have been either working or too exhausted as my job requires more energy than i'm used to. this is because my job is full time and it's outside. i am the caretaker of the animals at the children's farm in one of the county parks in my city. even though it's tiring, i love it!!
my day usually starts by opening the farm. i feed all the animals, get water for outside, then let them out. once they're all out, i clean out their pens. that sounds like a really terrible job but it's actually not. my lack of sense of smell is very handy at that particular time. when i'm done with barn chores if people are there i go around to the different pens, bringing the animals to the fence so they can pet them.
right now we have two calves (a holstein and a line back); a donkey (full grown) named freida; 4 quickly growing piglets (they gain about 2 pounds a day); 2 lambs; one mama goat and three baby goats (the most adorable thing ever). the goats are a big hit because i can pick them up and bring them over so people can pet them. they make this really adorable bleating sound that is kind of like a baby crying.everyone loves that :)
when i'm done at the farm, usually i spend the rest of the day mowing. it's a rather large park and needs to be maintained. have you ever gone to a park and seen how it's mostly just grass that looks nice and is mowed to perfection? yeah, it doesn't get that way by itself. i know it was only my first week but i am really terrible at driving a john deere mower. if i don't push the pedal down hard enough the whole mower deck starts to bounce and then it freaks me out so i just have to stop completely. it's kind of embarrassing. i'm so high up that if it's hilly i sometimes feel like i'm falling off a cliff. there is another kind of mower which i very much prefer. i believe it's called a zero turn mower. it doesn't have a traditional steering wheel. instead it has 2 levers that control speed and direction. yeah that sounds kind of silly so here's a picture -->
that's not the actual mower we have, just an example i found on google images.
i enjoy mowing even when i don't have my ipod. it's very relaxed. they just tell me what areas to mow and let me loose. i also just kind of enjoy driving this kind of mower :) it reminds me of bumper cars as a kid. (the ones we used to go to had the same kind of controls.) i'm definitely NOT trying to hit things with this mower. i'm trying very hard to avoid hitting things.
so yeah that's my job. there's always a lunch somewhere in there too. it's a little strange because the majority of my coworkers are college guys, the youngest of which is like 2 years older than me. so they don't really talk to me. there's only one other girl but she's nice :)
i think this is going to be an excellent summer. i actually prefer going to work to lazing around at home all summer. plus, i'm making an excellent wage :D

it's all fun and games until someone's nose gets broken...then it's hilarious
so there's this funny thing after you finish high school: graduation! it feels a little strange to know that i am a high school graduate. just as i was getting comfortable in high school, i have to leave. don't get me wrong, i want to leave (or would it be wanted as i have left high school now?) see i can't even get my verb tenses right! so anyway we graduated yesterday and had a jolly good time of it :)
after graduation comes graduation parties! this made for a rather eventful day yesterday. we went to a party of someone who goes to my church then hannah and i went to my best friend megan's house. we ate some cake and played a really terrible game of badminton. then we decided to play ninja...
for those of you who don't know this game (if you do know you may carry on to the next paragraph): a group of people stands in a circle. all bow to the center then strike a ninja-esque pose (usually accompanied by a ninja noise) the winner of the previous round (or some random person if it is the first round) swings at one of the people next to them trying to hit their hand. if you hit anything but a hand you are out. if you hit their hand they are out and the circle closes. if you do not wish to swing (or can't for various reasons) you may reposition yourself into a new ninja pose.
so anyway, two of the girls thought it would be fun to try to make josh (megan's boyfriend) flinch by swinging past his face in the process of swinging at his hand. this turned out to be not such a good idea as one of the aforementioned girls swung a little harder than intended and a bit closer to his face than intended and ended up hitting him in the face. this made quite a satisfying smack sound. however that's when the blood began. the heel of her hand had smashed into his nose, breaking it. this kind of puts a damper on the party atmosphere.
he's fine now (well, as good as you can be with a broken nose). they were going to the doctor last night so hopefully he got it shifted back into place. it was rather unsettling to look at his face and see his nose a good half centimeter off from where it was supposed to be.
it was an accident but the unnamed breaker of the nose feels really terrible about it even though she didn't mean to and it wasn't her idea in the first place. so if she's reading this: don't worry about it :) accidents happen.
i'm hopefully going to another grad party today which i hope is not nearly as eventful :)

silly high school! finals are for underclassmen!
it is very nearly official. i have finished my high school education. all that's left for me now is 2 half days of torture called finals. there's really no point to it. my grades are good enough that even if i did terribly, i wouldn't really go below a B in any of my classes. of course, this doesn't mean i'm not going to try. it is a source of procrastination though :/
i also have graduation rehearsal today. we have to run through everything so that we know what we're doing on saturday. i'm kind of excited but i hope the guys in my class can stop being morons long enough for us to get it done.
i start my new job on tuesday! i'm pretty excited about this :) not sure if i mentioned this before so i'll say it now: i got a job working at a park near my school. i will spend the summer taking care of baby animals and doing park maintenance. it was actually really cool how it worked out because my mom brought home the county application in january and i filled it out so she could bring it back. then i completely forgot about it. sometime in early may (i don't remember exactly) i got a call from the park manager, who coincidentally is the father of one of the guys in my class (not one of the aforementioned morons tho :). he was super nice. i did the interview and he called me the next week to tell me i am hired! that is one of the best feelings in the world to get a call from someone saying that you are the best for the job and that they want you more than the other people who interviewed.
so my summer will be mostly work but i'll be outside the whole time so i'm ok with that. starting on tuesday means
a) i make more money :)
b) i don't have to sit around at home all summer :)
plans for my graduation party are underway! we're not doing it on the day of because about a bajillion of my friends are doing it that day. that gives us way more time to plan so that's nice. my aunt is making me a quilt out of all my tshirts from high school. i'm pretty excited to see it because she is very talented :)

sewing and such
so my life consists of your average everyday insanity, but i thought i'd stop in and blog an update.
sewing: i finished my dress for graduation!! it is currently displayed in the window of the home ec room. also my sister is sewing a dress about 5 feet away as i type this.
prom: was excellent! we ate chinese food, danced the night away, then watched robin hood:men in tights at my friend's house. one of my friends ran a half marathon the next day too. that was pretty neat.
senior awards: we had them today. basically i had to dress up so that i could walk up to the front of the auditorium and shake my college's admissions guy's hand while he gave me a framed photo of the college. it was still kind of cool though.
spanish: in my spanish 4 class we have to do a ten minute presentation. in spanish. i did mine on painters from spanish speaking cultures. i think i did good but even if i didn't i'll still have an A :)
school: will be over in 10 days!!!! that is ten calendar days until graduation and 6 classes (of each hour) left!!
as you may be able to tell, i'm extremely excited about this.
plasma: i'm going to go give plasma because i am out of money and the gas light just came on in my car!

frolic 2011
so at my high school we have this thing called frolic. it's basically a talent show on the wednesday before prom and homecoming. sometimes it's lame, sometimes it's awesome. tonight, it was awesome. i sat between two of my best friends all night listening to the mostly vocal, but occasionally comedic stylings of my classmates. there was an adaptation of sweet home alabama: sweet home wisconsin. an original song/ rap by one of the most talented guys i know. a lovely dance by several of the senior girls. and of course, the classic baby picture/ senior picture slide show. it was an amazing night.
as i type this, i am wearing the dress that i made in sewing class. it fits me perfectly, which i was a little worried about. it's purple (of course :)
everyone is starting to get excited for prom. and for graduation. personally, i can barely contain myself. i will miss my friends, but i'll make more and i can't wait to be away from high school. before i do though, i have like 17 days left so i'm going to go get some sleep...

may the fourth be with you
so i'm not sure when or how this started (or if i just live under a rock and didn't know about it) but apparently today is star wars day. i think it's quite clever.
my tanning escapades have continued. i went for 12 minutes and burnt my stomach/back. probably because my stomach has never seen the light of day. at least not in sunshine. it's just reaching that point that it itches but if i scratch it i instantly regret it. yay for pain neurons, right?
i'm beginning to have a whole new appreciation for all the foreign kids who come to my school and speak english all day long. i'm in spanish 4 and we have to do a 10 minute presentation on culture in spanish speaking countries. it took me awhile to think of something i could actually spend 10 minutes talking about but once i found it (artists in/from south america) the realization hit: i actually have to write up 10 minutes worth of words in spanish. at this point i'm debating whether i should figure out what i want to say in english then try to switch it to spanish or just start out completely (notes and all) in spanish. i'm leaning towards the all spanish because then i can add details and whatnot to my presentation without having to translate on the fly.
my last choir concert of the year (and of high school) is approaching this weekend. it's big fun because we get to wear our prom dresses. it's extra big fun this year because our director is having us serenade his wife for their 10th wedding anniversary. we're singing the song you are so beautiful and our director is singing the solo. it's going to be epic!!

a slightly bronzer lifelong learner
i went tanning for the first time today. it was kind of a strange experience. i went today, on a seemingly random thursday, because at this one place it's only a dollar to tan on thursdays :) so i thought i'd get a little bronze for prom. i walked in there with absolutely no knowledge about tanning. i had never even seen a tanning bed in person before. they got me registered, i bought the little goggles (which really aren't goggles at all, they're just little plastic cups that sit on your eyes) and was sent to a room. there's apparently a radio in the tanning bed but i could not for the life of me figure out how to turn it on. so i just laid there for 9 minutes listening to the whirring fans. a few minutes in i realized i still had my watch and my bracelet on, so i just took them off and blindly threw them in the direction of my things. i should probably buy some tanning lotion or something but they don't let you bring in stuff you already have and i'm kind of broke right now.
in other news, i graduate from high school exactly one month from today. this is an extreeeemly exciting concept for me :) i'm kind of bummed to transform some of my friendships into long distance ones, but i suppose a long distance friend is better than no friend at all :) of course i'll make new friends in college but i don't want to lose touch with my friends in high school.
i was totally going to say something else but i forgot what it was...
so i have discovered this podcast that i am quite enjoying. i'm kind of a nerd and i like to learn about random things, which makes this podcast perfect for me. it seems that they just pick a topic and talk about it. they research it and come up with some interesting points. it's called How Stuff Works Stuff You Should Know (i'm pretty sure that's it, or close at least). the other day i listened to one where they looked into the possibility of retaining consciousness for several seconds after decapitation and one all about the science and the why's of tickling. i find it fascinating :)

i'm going to go eat some birthday cake...
easter has come and gone. it was a pretty good one this year too. not too busy, plenty of time to relax. lots of good food :) i even made a cake. it was a birthday cake for my brother, who turned 27 on thursday. everybody loved it. i was asked for the 6th time in the last few weeks if i was going to major/minor in culinary arts or go to college to be a pastry chef. i'm not of course, but it's a nice compliment. i think i'll just continue to bake as a hobby and learn techniques so that i can make cakes and cookies for my friends and family :)
i finally caved. i'm now participating in the "photo challenge" fad on facebook. not because everyone else was doing it. i'm doing one of the hardcore ones:365 days. do you have any idea how hard it is to take a picture every single day?? pretty hard. most of my pics are taken right around 10:30 or 11 p.m. cuz that's when i remember to take one. the more i do it though, the easier it is.
i was driving yesterday and i came to an alarming discovery: a song that i love from my ipod is suddenly gone. nobody but me really touches my ipod so the chances of someone deleting it are pretty slim. i know i didn't. so i went to my itunes to look for it. not there. it's in my purchase history, but nowhere to be found. i find this extremely irritating...

internet withdrawal!
the internet is back!! at last!! i had no internet access for almost 24 hours because we had a blizzard last night. yay wisconsin. we had a stinkin blizzard at the end of april. THE END OF APRIL!!!! we had a 2 hour delay and everything. craziness. i was beginning to go a little crazy. but i'm back now.
in the absence of play practice, it seems like i have all the time in the world. today after school i even had a chance to stand around with my friends (which i could never do before cuz i didn't have a car). so last night with no play practice (and no internet!!) i baked a cake, made supper, actually ate supper with my family, did dishes (gasp!), made frosting, frosted the aforementioned cake, and then did some more dishes.
while i know that normally a play by play of my day is not what people want to read when they come to my blog, yesterday was real news for me. i went to bed shocked that i had accomplished so much on a weeknight. lately, i've been scraping by trying to get my homework done before 11.
the cake i made was for spanish because today is the anniversary of a failed revolution in Chile in 1851 (160th anniversary). we're reading this story about it. well we read it i suppose because we finished it today. it's called MartÃn Rivas. apparently it's like this big deal novel but we just read a short, abridged version. i enjoyed it. i like reading in spanish :)
so anyway, i piped "feliz revolución" on the top in red. the frosting (white base, red details) was strawberry flavored. it was a huge hit in my spanish class. my class of 15 (including the teacher) ate the whole thing. one of the guys practically licked the plate it was on. they said i should be a professional pastry chef. my teacher was like she'll have her own show on food network!
that's actually not the first time i've heard that. like 3 people said that this past weekend when i handed out the cookies we made for the play. while i think the whole pastry chef thing would be fun, i already picked a college and a major. maybe once i have my nursing degree, i'll go back and get a pastry chef degree (is there such a thing?) and open a bakery...

That's Some Musical!
so i'm enjoying this whole theater thing. we've done 4 shows so far, and we have our last one today. while i'm glad i got to do it, and at times i was exhausted from the time it took, i'm a little sad to leave it behind. i will always have the memories though. that's part of the reason we decided to make a video. hannah and i were sitting in practice one day and she turns to me and says we should make a "blooper" reel. so we just started filming in practice. we're in the process of editing right now and it's taking forever. it'll be so worth it to have this though.

it seems to me we have no ordinary spider
it's time. all our hard work, all the hours, all the drama, and all the makeup comes down to tomorrow morning. we perform for the first time. two shows. full house each. in case you were wondering that's about 1400 people total. the area grade schools all come to watch when we do children's theater so it's going to be packed. i'm so excited i can barely contain myself. my call time is 7:50 tomorrow morning. although i'll probably be there at like 7:30 anyway. i have paper and markers so my dressing-room-mates and i can make signs for our doors. i'm going to stop at the gas station on my way to school to pick up a bag of gummy worms for my friends and me :)
a perk of this is that i don't have to go to any of my classes. i do get to go to early lunch to show off my makeup that looks like an old lady :D

little miss muffet all tucked in her tuffet
title: so our microphone/sound guys for the musical are still getting the hang of things at the sound board and don't always turn our mics off (or on!) when they're supposed to. so yesterday, 3 of the girls had girl choir dress rehearsal so they came late to practice. the guy who plays homer zuckerman (jake) says to one of them "well look who's here, little miss muffet all tucked in her tuffet!" by the time he got to muffet i realized that i could hear his voice coming through the tv that shows the auditorium. his mic was still on. all our directors/ orchestra pit heard that. it was quite possibly the funniest thing that happened all week :)
prom season has begun. i got a dress (which is purple and gorgeous by the way) i asked a guy (who said no) and my back up "as friends" date asked a girl who said yes (who is my friend and they'll be cute :)
my mom and i went dress shopping last weekend. well, we went to this consignment store for prom dresses but all the dresses were like $200. so then we just went back to deb. i tried on (again) the very first dress that i had seen on the website and loved. and it looked much better the second time around. oddly, it's the same size as the blue dress that didn't fit. i still owe my mom $75 but it was so worth it cuz it looks amazing :)
my friend coltyn and i made a deal that we would both ask who we wanted to ask and if they both said no, we would go as friends. he wouldn't tell me who he was going to ask, but he guessed who i was going to ask. so i called the guy (who happens to be coltyn's best friend). he didn't pick up. so monday morning, he comes up to me (with coltyn and another friend in tow) and is like you wanted to talk to me? so i was like yeah do you want to go to prom with me? after floundering for a bit with i don't know, it's kind of early, and i don't know you that well, i suggested he could think about it and get back to me. which he didn't do until friday. he brought coltyn and another friend with him to say thanks for asking me to prom but i don't think this is going to work. i'm sorry. i was just like it's alright. he's adorable but super shy so i didn't push it.
in the midst of all this i spent a total of 14 hours at play practice in five days and 2 hours painting sets. today i'm about to spend a good 6-8 hours at dress rehearsal. i'm kind of excited to be fully costumed and made up. although that means i have to wear my contacts so i look like a freak (not really it just feels like it). i'm pretty sure not a moment goes by that there is not a song from the musical stuck in my head. that's ok though. at least i can remember the words when i have to sing them :)

be!...our!...guest!! be our guest, put our service to the test!
today i had an amazing experience! i saw Beauty and the Beast live! it was awesome!!! we were way up in the top balcony but nobody's head was in my way :) and we could still see almost the whole stage. i know almost every word by heart because i've seen the movie fifty billion times. even i didn't know how much i love this story. as the opening chords started my eyes actually started to tear i was so happy. the music was beautiful and the actors were brilliant. i swear, theater is the only time 3 hours goes by in a heartbeat :)
p.s. thanks mom for taking us :)

april fools day
it comes every year. in the past i have devised a multitude of pranks including tearfully informing my friends that i was moving away, telling my sister that i broke something of hers, etc. this year i was too lazy. i briefly considered coming up with one, but then i fell asleep.
apparently internet culture is far more invested in april fools day than i am. i didn't know this until today actually. turns out participators include google, youtube, hulu, ebay, and apple. (by the way this information is courtesy of my friend coltyn, as i would never have found these myself)
google's april fools jokes include "gmail motion" with a video about how now you can stand in front of your computer making motions that will completely replace keyboard/mouse. also, there was apparently some nonsense about an alien invasion but i can't find it :(
youtube's was not that funny. it was viral videos of 1911.
hulu's was impressive i thought. when you go to the website it takes you to an "older" version. cerca 1996 i believe with shows that were popular that year and an older looking page. there are links that say "take me back to the future!!"
ebay's was cool. they created a "pirate ebay" (pirate bay) at http://thepiratebay.org/
who knew this non-holiday could be so fun?

spring break isn't as interesting as it sounds
here i am, lolling my way through spring break. it's wednesday and all i accomplished so far was coloring my hair. but i did have a friend sleep over. that was fun :) today i'm going to be making cookie dough. my mom wants "spring" cookies (umbrellas, carrots, bunnies, etc.) and we're also doing cookies for the play. i'm not sure if i've mentioned this before, but it's charlotte's web. so we're going to make pigs and webs with the words on them (some pig, terrific, radiant, humble). but the play isn't for 2 1/2 weeks so i'm going to make them tomorrow then we'll freeze them until we have time to decorate them. i'll try to post some pics once they're done.
unfortunately, the prom dress that i was planning to buy, i did not buy. i went to try it on again and it didn't fit. so i made the decision to look for a cheaper one at prom exchange or jc penney or something. that is my plan for this afternoon!
tangled came out on dvd yesterday so we bought it! then we watched it again (my 4th time i think...) on it there was a preview for lion king all restored and on dvd and stuff and alice (my foreign student) said she had never seen lion king. so of course we had to watch it!! it was good stuff :) always has been.
so i have this weird habit of watching all the credits for every movie i watch. i feel like all these people did a ton of work, so somebody should read their names. plus i love some of the goofy stuff that they put in there because they know not many people read them. like on tangled credits, towards the end there is a heading: caffeination with a name under it. this makes me giggle :)

snow day II
the day before yesterday was the first day of spring. yesterday, last night, and today my lovely state has been pelted by snow, sleet, and freezing rain. at least we got something good out of it. i slept for 10 hours last night :D it does have its drawbacks though. last night there was supposed to be a big smart-kids-test/jeopardy competition called the academic bowl. this is exciting for me because i'm a nerd. i even wore a new shirt that i bought with kermit the frog on it that says geek. but it was postponed :P
now we've had 2 days of lost play practice this week and we'll have another the week after spring break because that's when the academic bowl is. i'm starting to worry about how this is going to go. i wish our director would schedule practices over spring break. she didn't because two girls will be gone. but both have minor parts and one of them never comes to practice anyway. i suppose there's still time to schedule something.
my show choir got our new song on monday night. it's our first slow one this year and i love love love it! we're singing My Heart Will Go On from Titanic. maybe i'll watch titanic on netflix as long as i'm home with nothing to do :) there might be a soprano solo (which will actually be half of a duet) and i want it. i've wanted solos before, but nothing like this. this is one of my favorite songs from an amazing movie that i love. i've never gotten a solo before, but i'm going to bring this song to my voice teacher and tell him that this solo is mine and i'll do whatever it takes to get it.
oh hey, i hit 300 pageviews!! thanks for reading! :D

embrace the suck
title: last night i went to see the new movie beastly with my friend heidi (who i never get to see at school) and then we went out to eat. anyway the guy's slogan for some student government campaign (when he's really good looking) is embrace the suck. because he's like you'll never be as good looking as me so just deal with it. and then after he's ugly, if you look closely, you can see that the tattoos he has for eyebrows say "embrace" and "suck" i thought that was a nice touch :)
oh dear. my busy schedule catches up with me once again. first time i've had time to sit down and take a breath in like a week. it seems like as the school year goes on, i just get busier and busier until eventually it will all just stop at graduation. i look forward to that brief time of quiet before i (hopefully) start my summer job.
i'm interviewing for said job today. i really really really really want this job. it's a full time summer thing at a factory so i would be pulling orders and stuff. and that's what i'm really good at. i had a lot of fun pulling orders when i volunteered for my school's fruit sale this year. so i guess we'll see how it goes.
most of my "spare" time (which is really imaginary anyway) goes to play practice. our practices go til 6 right now and then after spring break, we'll go til 8. i thought it was going along pretty well but apparently we're kind of behind because we're not singing the songs as we do the run through (it's a musical). i'm enjoying it though :)
one of my friends (who's in the cast) has influenza. which, because we all spend so much time together, probably means that the rest of the cast will come down with it as well. i just hope we all get sick over spring break so that nobody misses practice.
prom is coming up on the radar as well :) i went and picked out my dress. i didn't buy it yet because they had to order a new one because there was a snag in the fabric (it was quite visible). but it was very pretty and i'm excited about it :) it's dark blue and aqua. maybe after prom i'll post a picture of it.

i totally wrote this this morning but didn't have time to post it.
i'm not really sure what analogy i could apply to my life right now. for goodness sake i can't even find an adjective! well...i'll try: busy crazy full insane...yeah that's all i got. thus the scarcity of posts. although for all i know, i'm just talking to myself out here in cyberspace. sure there are plenty or pageviews but i can't really know if anyone is reading my blog more than once. if you're reading this thinking 'hey! i read this blog whenever she posts!' then i would much appreciate it if you'd click the little follow button :) followers make me happy :)
anywho, life is good. rehearsal for charlotte's web is going smashingly well! we've finally reached the last section of the play. we should probably get a set pretty soon though... we got the idea to tape play practices. not the practicing itself, but all the randomness that goes on when we're not on stage. my friend hannah and i are going to edit it into a "blooper" video to watch at the cast party. we'll also make dvds for the whole cast. i'm excited :) we're getting some really great stuff too. it's gonna be hilarious :)
i don't know what possessed me to volunteer for this, but today i have to work from 1 to 10. yup. 9 hours. in a row. at least i get a half hour break and 2 fifteen minute breaks. my boss told me i need to be more energetic. actually, i believe the word he used was bubbly. so that is my goal today: to be "bubbly" for 9 hours straight. wish me luck!
so last night i watched Megamind. one of the best animated movies i've seen in awhile. i love that style of animation and the skill of the artists is amazing. one reason i really wanted to watch it was this guy's blog. he is an amazing artist and i love his work. so if you like art take a look :)
so i've been trying to make some extra money giving plasma. it's not going so well. i managed to give once but it took like 2 hours so i was late for school (as were my sister and my foreign student). and i tried to give twice this week but both times my iron was low :( so i'm making an effort to eat more eggs in the hopes that i'll actually have some gas money.
my weight loss efforts are (until yesterday) practically nonexistent. but a new week started yesterday (i weigh in on thursdays) and now i actually have a goal. it's prom season! i'm actually running a little late. last year i bought my dress in january. it took me 5 months, but i lost a whole dress size. i don't have that kind of time this year, but luckily, both the dresses i'm considering come in my size :)

solo and ensemble...also known as legal torture
the day has finally come and gone. and what a day it was! things began with a bang at our performance of "knock on wood" and "rock this town" at 9:20. we did pretty awesome and we'll be heading to state in may :)
then we watched alice's woodwind choir...pretty good. took a lunch break but had to rush back for my friend's solo that i really wanted to see. we made it in time and it was beautiful :) then we saw alice's flute choir which was pretty cool :)
then (dramatic music) i had to sing my solo. it had been a long day already and i hadn't even heard the accompaniment (you have no idea how busy i am). so it wasn't until i practiced w/ my accompanist that i realized just how unprepared i was. i tried to go thru it in the warm up room but we kept getting interrupted and people were there. i sounded awful. so we went and hijacked the piano warm up room which was empty. that went much better. so i went and sang it. not my best performance and i accidentally turned two pages at once. i got a 2 on it (aka nice try but i don't think so). i kind of expected it though.
the best part about today was it was my last solo ensemble ever :)

plasmapheresis is a big word...
today, i almost saved someone's life. i went to give plasma for the first time! they got me all registered and i had a physical. i had to read this little statement out loud saying i knew this was voluntary and all that good stuff. one of the words in it was plasmapheresis. i didn't even stumble over it and the guy was like 'woah. you're like the second person i've ever seen pronounce that word correctly the first time' :) but then when they tried to do it, it went really slow. so then they switched arms. but then they couldn't reconnect the machinery. so i didn't actually get to give plasma :( but i still got paid for it :) i'm going again on friday morning so i guess we'll see how that goes. they have cool fingerprint scanners there :)
i spent the afternoon at work :P i certainly made quite a bit of money today. one way more tedious than the other. although work was not too terribly boring. it was just work.
unfortunately, it is snowing again. what's the snow equivalent to a downpour? because that's definitely what's happening. one of my coworkers even thought she heard thunder. it took me at least five minutes to brush and scrape all the snow and ice off my car. and even then it was still kind of tough to see. my windshield wiper has like this one little spot where it never gets water so there's like a curved line of blurry wetness right in the middle of my windshield. it's quite irritating :P

first snowday of the year!
it's finally here! in late february, we finally got our snow day. teachers and students alike were beginning to wonder if we would have one at all. that would be a sad winter in wisconsin. oh we got more snow than we bargained for. i woke up at 5 am today and shoveled (by hand!!) waist deep snow. it has its pros and cons really. i didn't have to bend over to pick it up because it was already at the level of my shovel. i've got this down to a science where i take the snow in layers. it took me forever (or about an hour and a half). when i came in my hair was a frozen mess and my glasses fogged up as soon as i stepped through the door. i was too tired to care. not that cold though. it was a whole 24 degrees out :) i just went back to bed. slept til almost 11 :)
so i'm in the market for a prom dress. it's more difficult than it sounds :/ theres some really cute ones that are really expensive. there's also some really ugly ones that are cheap. somehow there's also really ugly ones that are really expensive, but never cute ones that are really cheap. why is that?
i have officially scheduled an appointment to give (donate? not really since they pay me...never really sure what word to use) plasma. this is exciting because i can make like $50 a week doing this :D i'll finally have my own gas money!! and i might just be able to buy that really cute really expensive dress...

trow em in de wash, dey'll be grand
title: from the movie leap year (girl goes to ireland to propose to her bf on leap year but ends up falling in love w/ the guy who drives her to dublin) said by declan (guy driving girl to dublin), hot irish guy. (he was talking about her shoes cuz she was walking in mud) i'm pretty sure every guy with an irish accent gets extra points for the accent no matter how he looks :) hilarious movie tho :)
so i survived valentines/ singles awareness day. it wasn't so bad actually. this year, instead of feeling bitter and lonely, i was like aww how cute. this shocked me as much as it did my friends because apparently i have made it clear that i hate valentines day. but this year wasn't so bad.
this week was senior/freshman buddy week. (don't ask me why we do it in february there's really no rhyme or reason to it) i was a little apprehensive but it was awesome!! my buddy was so cute :) for dress like your buddy day she curled her hair and dyed it red!! people actually stopped me to tell me they saw my buddy and knew from looking at her that she was mine :) we had a scavenger hunt thing wednesday afternoon. we had to go out in the snow but it was fun. i brought her candy and cookies and stuff every day :) (i'm going for the best buddy award :)
i have off school today (which is why i'm posting in the middle of the day) but i still have play practice at 2. and i have to dye my hair. we don't have off school because of the protests because i go to a private school.
so wisconsin is having this big thing with the budget cuts/ union rights suspended bill thingie. everyone seems to have an opinion. a good 40,000 people felt strongly enough to actually go down to madison today. the democrats have fled the state. i don't like the bill but if it goes through it's not the end of the world. and my family is actually directly affected by it. my mom works for the state (she's not a teacher but a county worker). because they're forcing gov't workers to pay more towards health care, my mom will take a big pay cut. the thing that really bothers me about this bill is that everyone who isn't affected acts like gov't workers deserve to have their pay/benefits cut. my mom's job is hard! no one else wants to do it and she deserves every penny she makes. i find it rude and insensitive when people act like gov't employees are lazy because they don't pay as much of their health care as everyone else does.
oh hey, i now have more than 200 pageviews :D thanks guys :)

one fish two fish red fish blue fish
random title explanation: i'm running out of clever titles. so from this point forward i will post my favorite quotes (with an explanation of course) if i have no intelligent title. this one is dr. seuss (you probably knew that). i don't know why but this always sticks in my brain.
i've had a rather eventful weekend. my mom and i drove to milwaukee so i could audition for a scholarship there. i sang two songs, one in italian. the other was wishing you were somehow here again from phantom of the opera. by some miracle i managed to get all the words right :) the judges (or whatever they're called...) were smiling when i looked at them :)
my school's valentines dance was last night. not as depressing as i anticipated actually. it was alot of fun. and we haven't had a dance since homecoming (which is like an eternity for my school we have a dance like every two months).
this morning i sang at church with our traveling choir. i don't know who's bright idea it was to schedule a sing-in-church-day the morning after a dance but 80% of the choir was falling asleep standing up. needless to say, it wasn't exactly our best rendition of the four songs we sang.
then we went to the mall because my jeans are falling apart. i really wanted to look at this prom dress i saw in seventeen magazine. but they didn't have it at sears where they said it would be :( delia's didn't have a cute purple dress i wanted to try on either. merg. but my mom did buy me two pairs of jeans :D
overall a pretty good weekend. i realize that if you are a random passer by in cyberspace that this post means nothing to you. but feel free to read the rest ;)

sculpturey things :)
so this is a coil vase i made w/ flowers in it :)
this is a little whistle shaped like a cat :)
and this is my crowning achievement: a pig! :D
whosits and whatsits galore
so packers won the superbowl :) (of course). that was pretty awesome. i didn't watch it though because i went to see wicked!! it was amazing!!!! and we're going to go to beauty and the beast in april :D i'm beginning to like musicals...
let's see, what else significant has happened since the last time we talked...read...er...communicated? well play (musical) practice started. it's pretty fun. today we couldn't be on the stage and half the cast was missing so we just played improv games the whole time :)
i'm auditioning on saturday for a vocal scholarship at WLC (wisconsin lutheran college) i have to memorize two songs, one of which is in italian. i've sung them both before so i have them like 3/4 memorized. we're kind of making a day of it in milwaukee. my mom and i are going to go to the biggest cookie cutter store in the state!! :D that should be fun :) maybe i'll post pics of some cookies we've done. i should post some sculpture pictures too...
my car hasn't been starting the past couple of days. probably because we've had a -30 degrees (Farenheit) windchill all week. but my brother came over and helped me start it :) now i can get home from play practice all by myself :)

snowpocalypse seems a little strong
it appears that the victims of winter are a bit prone to hyperbole. we've only gotten like 6-8 in in the last few days. and some 40 mph winds. the wind is just a pain because it's loud. i'm so sick of shoveling i could scream! but my school has a 2 hour delay today :)
every other spring my school does a musical. every fall and the opposite spring they do a play. i have tried out for almost every single one and never gotten a part. i tried out for this one. but something was different...I GOT A PART!! i was shocked and amazed :D i am now Edith Zuckerman in Charlotte's Web. this is going to be a blast!
winterfest and honors choir went pretty awesomely. i managed to not lose my voice at honors choir. at winterfest i got to hold my biology teacher's snake for like an hour and a half. i also got to listen to a lovely quartet which included mike, josh, and coltyn (from paintball :) my choir sang our west side story medley and our show choir did our two numbers. i managed not to fall, but i came close when we were dancing. i also got to see a friend who i never see so that was pretty awesome :) overall it was an excellent day :)
p.s. i don't know if i mentioned this but i totally got my glasses last week :) they're awesomeness and more :)

[insert witty post title here]
here i am, friday night, with no plans other than to write this blog post and make a bunch of football cookies for the superbowl. real exciting. i'm in kind of a bad mood today. i had to go to the doctor today where they told me i am sick with a virus and there's pretty much nothing they can do. in the process of going to the doctor, i missed choir, where they rehearsed for this big honors choir shindig tomorrow (which i'm in) without me. that was fine until i found out (at the end of eighth hour) that practice was cancelled due to callbacks for our school's musical.
which brings me to the other meh thing that happened today...i did not get a callback. i tried out yesterday. i'm a senior. this is second semester. but the chances of me making it into the musical: slim to none. the chances of some ok-but-nothing-special sophomores getting in: very high. let me tell you, that sucks. and i'm a good singer. not in the i'm-gonna-be-the-next-american-idol-no-matter-what-the-judges-say kind of way but i really legitly am. not really anything i can do to change the director's mind :( so overall my day was not so great. but the forecast for this weekend is excellent (not literally, as it is going to snow 3-5 inches tonight). but tomorrow i have the aforementioned honors choir. i went last year and it's basically one huge day of singing. i love it.
then on sunday we have the biggest musical event of the year at my school. Winterfest. we sing, we dance, we volunteer. i will be painting faces of small children and hopefully holding my biology teacher's snake for people to come look at. (which i love to do) then i'm singing a west side story medley with my choir. when we're done with that i gotta sprint to the dressing room to change into my show choir costume. we're performing Rock This Town by the Stray Cats and Rockin Robin. not sure who that is by. it's gonna be great :)

paintball 101: don't get shot.
oh dear. my life has been rather boring the last couple weeks. but what i spent my sunday doing made up for all of that. so this guy in my group of friends (josh) likes my best friend (megan). he wanted her to go paintballing. so they dragged the rest of us along. i'm so glad they did! it was the most fun i've had in a long time. four of us were in the choir at my school so we had to sing in church that morning. after a couple pit stops (culver's and my friend (coltyn)'s house to change) we carpooled to green bay. we were in the cars in twos because josh can only drive one person. mike and i managed to get lost on the way to the paintball field. (is that what you call it, a field?) eventually we made it there. the plan was to play until the packer game started and then go over to megan's house to watch it. it was so much fun we played til 3:00! i got hit twice in the first two fingers of my left hand, once on my left knee, twice on my right thigh, once on my head (that one hurts the most) and countless shots to the face (but i was wearing a mask so no bruises). i found out the hard way that paint tastes bad. i accidentally shot one of the refs at one point as well. i'm the most sore from all the crouching and ducking. i'm kind of a wuss when it comes to that sort of thing. my fingers are the most inconvenient because i wasn't wearing gloves at the time so the edges of the paintball scraped up my fingers. they're still swollen so i can't really use my index finger for anything. paintball was so worth all of those bruises though. after that we went over to megan's to watch the game. it was amazing. i would like to take this opportunity to point out: THE PACKERS ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm excited about this :) we only watched the second half but it was enough to get us excited. the game did run a little late and i had to be back in appleton for this thing my school does. it's called culture and cuisine. they do it because we have so many international students (about 50). they all make food from their own country and some of them do presentations or traditional music or dance. i was pretty late because mike and i got lost again. we had directions but we went out the driveway the wrong way and it all just went downhill from there. eventually i made it, almost an hour late. i still got to have some food though :)
all in all, a wonderful day. i'm def going to have to do this whole paintball thing again sometime :)

miscellaneous life
i finally ordered my glasses yesterday! they're really cute but i have to wait til like week after next to get them :P i was going to get purple but i ended up with kind of a plum-ish color. that's alright though because i really like them :)
my semester finals are finished! after a week of pressure and studying, they're all over with. i'm taking a college level english course and we were all scared for that test but it wasn't as bad as i thought. i'm also in advanced physics. i was worried about that, and pretty accurately too. that thing was a beast. i ended up with a B. it's not the end of the world but i'm not exactly thrilled about it.
now i get to start a bunch of new classes. 5 of my 8 classes changed or changed times. i'm looking forward to advanced biology. the teacher for it is really great. and i have sewing! there's a new teacher this year and apparently we get to just make whatever we want and she's there to help when we need her :) i also have to take government :P it's generally agreed to be the most boring class at my school. oh well, at least i'll get extra credit because i'm old enough to vote.
it's weird, this is my last semester of high school. thank goodness, i don't think i could take much more! i've been waiting for this for such a long time that it feels almost unreal that it's actually here.
the packers are going to the NFC championship!! :D i don't know if i've mentioned this before, but i'm a huge packers fan. most girls i know don't even understand football, let alone watch it all the time. i've been kind of a lazy fan this year and i haven't been watching the games, but now it really counts. i watched them kick the atlanta falcons' butt last night. now who we play next week depends on who wins the game between the bears and the seahawks today. watching the packer games me an opportunity to wear my new poppinga jersey my dad bought for me for christmas :)

the packers are going to the NFC championship!! :D i don't know if i've mentioned this before, but i'm a huge packers fan. most girls i know don't even understand football, let alone watch it all the time. i've been kind of a lazy fan this year and i haven't been watching the games, but now it really counts. i watched them kick the atlanta falcons' butt last night. now who we play next week depends on who wins the game between the bears and the seahawks today. watching the packer games me an opportunity to wear my new poppinga jersey my dad bought for me for christmas :)

the line has been crossed!
what line you say? oh yeah, you can't see it under all the snow!! it's official: we have reached the point where snow is now longer enjoyable. the time has come when snow does not make us feel warm and fuzzy inside. no. it makes us cold. very cold. it falls at usually the most inopportune times and gets in the way. the roadsides and parking lots are coated in disgusting brown and gray mush. that would be slush which is made from snow and millions of tires rolling over it. it doesn't even take that much and most of the smaller cars on the road have trouble putting their vehicles in motion. it can definitely be frustrating at times.

kevin the snipe/van!
as of yesterday, i own a vehicle! i am the proud owner of a 1995 ford minivan :) it is brown :/ but it's my baby :) i named her kevin, like the bird on Up (if you haven't seen this movie, go watch it right now because it's amazing). my mom and i arrived at this name because the only thing i could think of was "ugly duckling" until a friend suggested "ducky". i told my mom this and her response was "kevin!!" and kevin the bird (snipe) in the movie ends up being a girl so it's all good :)
i did not actually buy the car. my dad bought it for me :) well he gave me all the money to buy it so he technically bought it. so now i can drive myself to school and to work :) i can go where i need to and go where i want. i finally have the freedom to get things done! and i love it already :)

long time no see
hello. as you may have guessed, i have had a busy week. it was our first week back at school after christmas break. i missed much of it though. i spent half the school day at the eye doctor on monday. well not half, just a few sets really. i went to school on tuesday but was pretty miserable since i've had a cold/cough since christmas eve. so my mom took me to the doctor. she informed me i have a sinus infection and i should stay home at least the rest of that day. i also stayed home on thursday. but then i couldn't go pick out my glasses, which we had planned to do after school :( so we're going to go do that on tuesday. after that i was back to school just in time for the week to end.
i have to work today. my one shift. even though i opened up my availability so i could work several days a week. but no. i still only get one shift. that's gonna be tough to work with once i have a car (tomorrow!!!) since i'll need to pay for gas and insurance and all that. gotta go pick up a job application...
so yeah i'm getting my car tomorrow! it's a 1996 ford minivan, but hey, it runs. i'm trying to think of a name for it. all i've got so far is ugly duckling ;) i feel like this requires more thought...
so anyway, that's all i have for now :)
